Default Game Maps

Here is a list of some of CounterStrikes default maps. Keep checking this space regulary as i will be updating it quite often. So far i have information about 4 of the main game maps and hopefully in the future i will have a list of ALL the default maps. Below is a key as to what the two letters mean that preceed the maps name.

Key
Quick Links to Maps
DE
Bomb Defusal -Terrorists must plant a bomb and defend it so Counter Terrorists don't defuse it before it explodes

De_Dust
Cs_Assault
Cs_Militia
Cs_Office

CS
Hostage Rescue - Counter Terrorists must rescue hotages from one location and bring them safely to another

AS
Assault - Last one standing match in which one team must totally eliminate the other to win

De_Dust

De Dust is currently CounterStrikes most popular multiplayer level, and it was one of the first bomb defusal maps for the game to be released.

I haven't as of yet been able to find out where this map is based on, but by the looks of the buildings and palm trees i'd say somewhere like morocco or africa. (feel free to correct me)

Most peole think that DE_Dust is advatagous to the Counter Terrorists as they can cover quite easily the two main routes to the bomb sites.

A good way for the terrorists to win is to rush to one of the two bomb sites and get the bomb planted as soon as possible. Another advantage for the terrorists is that it takes only two Terrorists to climb up a large box at either bombsite (this is accomplished with one Terrorist ducking, the other jumping on top of him, and then both jumping to propel the top one above to the box). This makes it impossible for a single Counter-Terrorist to disarm the bomb.

CS_Assault

CS Assualt consists of a warehouse on two levels and part of a city block. Often seen as an unbalanced map which is advantagous to terrorists.

There are three entry points into the warehouse: the front door, back door, and air vent.

The front door is perhaps the most obvious because it is very open and anyone looking at it can see incoming players.

The back door is more covert as it is located right behind some boxes, but the door makes a lot of noise when opening and it is easy to camp near the door to shoot incoming players.

The vent is the favored entrance as there are two ways to get into it and two ways to get out.

Additionally, terrorists can hide in a part of the vent with an AWP and kill any incoming Counter-Terrorists before they have a chance to shoot back. This practice is referred to in some servers, particularly 24/7 cs_assault servers, as "vent-camping" and is usually frowned upon by both teams

CS_Militia

CS_Militia is one of the games newest levels, and offers the new High Dniamic Lighting that can be found on the lost coast. Also on this level there are many new features such a ropes you can climb up and flowing water.

Militia centers on a large house in which the 4 hostages are kept. Militia contains many of wide open areas, as well as an underground sewer passage.

The Counter-Terrorists start in a tucked-away location with a tunnel leading to the clearing which is often the site of firefights.

The Terrorists often snipe from the house's roof while the Counter-Terrorists take cover behind a rock formation. The Counter-Terrorists usually eventually move out and rush the house, but sometimes they stay there so long that Terrorists can come up behind them through the sewer, resulting in amusing responses from the spectators.

In the old version of the map the terrorists had an unfair advanatge of a house to use as a a fort, but in the latest source version with its better physics, the bullets can now go through the wooden walls of the house and injure any terrorists hiding on the other side.

CS_Office

CS_office is my personal favourate map.

The map consists of an office, a garage, and the nearby surroundings. There are five ways into the building and plenty of oppertunitys for camping. Counter-Terrorists start in the garage and can enter the building through several different entrances. The two staircases are the most popular entrances because they lead directly to the places Terrorists often pass through, and they provide cover for Counter-Terrorist players

Office is often criticized for having many unfair camping spots, such as behind couches and doorways. Another good campling spot is the coridor that has the vending machines on it, terrorists can easily hide by the vending machines and not get seen by passing Counter Terrorist players. .

Also In the latest source version it is possible to camp on top of exit signs above doors in two locations in the map.

There are many humerous features of this map including a snowman of which you can knock the head off, computer screens showing a partially-hidden icon for another game (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell). As well as many game related pictures on the walls that mock how the game is played. (One is shown in the above screenshot of the game.
